Upon receiving the Notice of Appeal Form and the Board of Education’s decision on the section 11 appeal, the Student Appeals Branch will:
bullet Contact the appellant to obtain missing information if the application is incomplete.
bullet Assign a case number to the appeal.
bullet Notify the Respondent (the Board of Education) that their decision is being appealed to a Superintendent of Achievement.
bullet Request that the Respondent submit a Notice of Response Form to the Student Appeals Branch.

Once an appeal has been opened, it will be referred to a Superintendent of Achievement who will decide whether to refer the appeal to mediation or adjudication, or to dismiss the appeal. The Superintendent of Achievement also has authority to suspend the Board of Education’s decision pending further information of a decision by an adjudicator if he or she considers it appropriate..
